Each class was different from the last and he always came out with a big smile and LOTS to tell. THANK YOU Michele and Susan."   - Mandy Stanhope, Chilliwack

DRAMA FOR PRE-SCHOOLERS PROGRAM
* Featured Summer Camp 2010 Program
(4 Weeks, 45 minutes per session)
All Skill Levels
Ages 3 - 5
Instructor: Wendy Bollard
8 students per session

PROGRAM: FUN, FUN, FUN! Your little entertainer will explore the world of drama and performance in this fun filled 4 week class. Through creative play, movement, character work and dress up, your children will build self-confidence and learn to express themselves.

COMMERCIALS ANYONE?
You won't find this program anywhere else in the lower mainland!
If you and your child want to pursue auditioning for commercials, we also focus on required basic acting and auditioning skills such as improvisation, creative play on demand, listening and being able to take direction when needed. Some class work will be video taped as it's important for the students to see how they are on camera and how well they take direction.

SPECIAL THEME: Each session has a special theme (Ex: Pirates and Princesses, Monster Mash etc. ) and is always different and always challenging for the pre-school actor so your child can take every class we offer and learn something new every time! Students are given work based on their skill level. New students will be given work that will be fun and slightly challenging and returning students will be given new audition pieces to challenge them even more!

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE PROGRAM?
All students will receive a class booklet with important audition notes for student and parents, a class certificate and an evaluation form letting the parents know how they did in the class. This is a great indicator for you, the parents and also the talent agents to see if your child is able and wants to pursue acting professionally.

PARENT PARTICIPATION:
*Parent participation is not required. It is in the student's best interest if the parents are not in attendance as the student needs to learn how to take direction from someone other than their parents if they are to get a talent agent and start auditioning for commercials etc.

HOW DO I GET A TALENT AGENT FOR MY PRE-SCHOOLER, TODDLER OR BABY?

If your child LOVES acting and acting classes, and you want to pursue getting them a talent agent, we can help you. There is a LOT of information out there so to make it easier for parents, we run a monthly workshop for parents called ACTING BUSINESS SEMINAR FOR PARENTS.
Check our schedule to find out when we're having our next one!

WHAT DO I DO AFTER I TAKE THE DRAMA FOR PRE-SCHOOLERS CLASS?
Children under 5 usually only get auditions for commercials. Over 5, they more frequently will get called for auditions for feature films and TV series. Most auditions require the children to take direction on command, be creative and emotional if needed, or be “excited” about a product if required.

Progressing to the next level of acting classes depends on how the student does in the DRAMA FOR PRE-SCHOOLERS class and their age. If the instructor feels that a 5 year old student can handle a more advanced class, then they will suggest the next level we offer:  FIRST TAKE: Film and TV Scenes - AGES 5 - 7

FIRST TAKE:
Film and Television Scene Work Program (4 WEEKS, 1 hour per session)

ADVANCED LEVEL
AGES 5 - 7
Instructor: Wendy Bollard
8 students per class
$100.00

PROGRAM:
The next stage for little ones who love being on camera. Children will get a chance to practice slating, learning lines, and scenes from commercials. In between they will be playing lots of imaginative games.

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE PROGRAM?
The class includes a booklet of notes about the program and a detailed evaluation form about the student's performance completed by the instructor. We recommend that you show your talent agent your evaluation form so they know how their talent is progressing. All classes are on camera.

This class is only offered a few times a year, so don't miss it. Check our schedule for dates and times.

COMMERCIALS FOR KIDS (3 WEEKS, 2 hour per session)
* Featured Summer Camp 2010 Program
BEGINNER LEVEL
Ages 8 - 12 yrs.
Instructor: Dolores Drake
10 students per session

This class is a MUST for the beginner actor!

*Enrollment is by approval of the instructor. The minimum age for this class is 7 years old as children are starting to read, entering kindergarten or grade one and have no problems being away from their parents at this age. Although there are always exceptions to the rule.

PROGRAM:
Does your child love to perform? This class is perfect for the beginner child and parent who want to know how to break into commercials and learn a basic overview of what acting is all about. This fun 3 week class covers everything a beginner actor needs to know before venturing out into the world of commercials, improv, industry terms, auditioning, script work, prop work and how to get an agent. Plus the student develops confidence, self esteem, communication skills and social skills.
.
BONUS: FILM INDUSTRY PARENT CHAT! Week 3 includes a session for both the parents and the students as we go over the "Business" side of commercials - Ex: talents agents, unions, headshots and more!

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE PROGRAM?
Each student receives a booklet full of valuable information about auditioning for commercials in our local film industry, a class certificate and a detailed evaluation form. All classes are on camera.

WHAT DO I DO AFTER I TAKE THE BEGINNER CLASS?
You must have a talent agent to start auditioning for commercials. We go over all of this information in the beginner class. Most  talent agents prefer their talent to have training for all types of programs; commercials, film and television.

Film and television roles are more challenging so we have created a class specifically for film and television roles and how to audition for them:
SCENES FOR KIDS PROGRAM.

SCENES FOR KIDS:
Film and Television Scene Work Program (9 WEEKS, 2 hour per session)
* Featured Summer Camp 2010 Program - 4 day version
ADVANCED LEVEL
AGES 8 - 12
Instructor: Dolores Drake
10 students per class

PREREQUISITE:
All students must have taken a commercial class of some kind or be an advanced acting student.

PROGRAM LENGTH:
This advanced acting program runs 3 times a year -
January to March
April  to June
September to November

PERFORMANCE FOR PARENTS:
The 9th week, we invite the parents to attend to watch their child perform film scenes they've been working on. After all, parents never get to see their children audition and may never know how fantastic they really are!

THE PROGRAM:
This program will greatly improve an actor's overall performance and confidence level at auditions as the longer program allows the instructors more time to really focus on each actor's skill set while allowing the actors to grow and expand their range in those 9 weeks.

This fun and challenging advanced class is the perfect class for young actors who:
  • audition on a regular basis and just can't seem to get the part
  • need to practice accessing emotion for scenes
  • have just completed a commercial class and want to learn about film and television scripts
  • want to improve their acting techniques and auditioning skills

The class lesson plan is written based on who has enrolled in the class so a student may take the class every time it's offered and continue to be challenged and learn new skills. We recommend that advanced actors take this class as often as they can to keep their skills in check. We work to improve each actor's weaknesses and in turn discover their strengths in acting. The lessons are always different and challenging. A student could take each session offered throughout the year and learn so much each time.

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE PROGRAM?
The program includes a booklet of notes about the program and a detailed evaluation form about the student's performance completed by the instructor. We recommend that students show their talent agent their evaluation form so they know how their talent is progressing. All classes are on camera.

This popular class fills up very fast, so don't wait to reserve your seat! Check our schedule for dates and times.

DON'T FORGET TO CHECK OUT OUR MONTHLY WORKSHOPS!

About Casting Director Susanne dePencier's Commercial Auditioning workshop:

"Please thank Susanne for her workshop on Sunday. Hannah had a lot of fun in the class and said that Susanne was very nice to them.  She commented that it was great to be able to have the pointers to improve her auditioning techniques. How often can an actor or actress get real feedback from a casting agent!  She also learned a lot from watching the other kids do their auditions, and her suggestions to them.  Thanks for providing the great classes! "- Sarah Spafford-Ricci, Surrey
